The hotel dates back to 1949 when the McEniff family purchased a four bedroomed B&B, known as the Lourdesville and located on the main street in Bundoran.

The Blue River Leisure Centre also has a Scandinavian sauna and a Canadian hot tub with water, heated to 36 degrees. Both are a great way to wind down after a training session or a long day on the beach.
Wondering what to do with the children while you stay at the Holyrood? Our Go!Kids! club is the perfect solution and it’s complimentary to all guests at the hotel. The children’s club operates during the months of July and August and also at mid-term break, Easter, Christmas and the New Year. Second to none, the club offers a wide range of supervised activities throughout the day. All are supervised by a staff of eight highly trained childcare workers, all of whom have been Garda-vetted. It’s designed not just as a babysitting facility, but with the enjoyment of the children in mind. Children are collected from their rooms and given breakfast at 8.30am, which allows parents to have a lie-in. They have breakfast together from 9 to 10am. The day is then structured around fun and interesting activities, geared specifically for different age groups. The childcare workers can update you on the itinerary each day in advance so that you can plan your schedule. Bouncy castles, bungee runs, games, arts and crafts, treasure hunts, supervised swimming in the Blue River Leisure Centre pool all feature on the itinerary. Optional trips to the local cinema and bowling alley are also available. The fun and games continue each evening with music and dancing led by dressed up bears - Pinky, Holy, Suzi and Leo, and a special sing-a-long for children. Afterwards the kids are offered a complimentary photograph to take home as a souvenir. Between 10 and 11.30pm, children can watch a DVD and wind down with a cup of hot chocolate. The Go!Kids! Club is renowned as a truly magical experience for children from ages 4 on. What’s more, parents can leave their little ones with the knowledge that they’re being supervised by trained organisers who value the safety of their children. It’s also a great way for kids to socialise and make new friends during their stay. The only problem is they may never want to leave!

The attractive 14x8m, deck-level swimming pool at the leisure centre is fully heated and decorated in a pretty mosaic pattern. It has a separate area for kids with an 8" deep pool. It’s perfect for an early morning swim to get you off to a good start or a relaxing splash at the end of the day. The Blue River Leisure Centre opens at 8am. Our younger guests have access only until 7pm. However the pool is open for adults until 9pm each evening.

Each room has wi-fi access, a flat screen multichannel TV, a hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. At the same time, the rooms are elegant and aesthetically pleasing. Each is decorated in either sage green, copper and or purple furnishings. The sage green rooms have a soothing but sophisticated feel to them. Floral motif wallpaper of cornflower blue, sage green and metallic silver adorns these walls, while cool grey curtains and throws complete the look. There’s a decadent feel to the purple rooms, which are more luxurious and have purple and gold-patterned wallpaper, and cream painted furniture. The copper-schemed bedrooms at the Holyrood are warm and welcoming, yet luxurious. They feature damask and stripe wallpaper. All of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, modern furniture and linen of the highest quality. Many come with stunning views of the Bundoran coastline.
